21-year-old Emirati man crushed to death under truck in Fujairah

An Emirati man, 21, succumbed to his serious injuries which he sustained after a heavy-duty truck fell on his the vehicle he was driving in on Al Tawyeen Street in Fujairah on Wednesday.

According to Colonel Saleh Mohammed Abdullah Al Dhanhani, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Fujairah Police, the accident took place around 4:30pm on Wednesday near Al Sarm area on Al Tawyeen Street.

Rescue officials cut the vehicle to free the man in Fujairah.

The deceased, identified as MSM, successfully used the U-turn on Al Tawyeen Street but was not fully sure that the street was clear of vehicles. Unexpectedly, an asphalt-loaded heavy-duty truck was going on the street and fell on the Emirati’s vehicle.

Traffic patrols, ambulances and civil defence teams rushed to the scene of the accident and managed with difficulty to take the Emirati out of his vehicle. The Emirati was taken to the Dibba Al Fujairah Hospital where he succumbed to his serious injuries.

In December 2020, an 18-year-old GCC national was killed in a traffic accident due to excessive speed in Sharjah.

The speed caused his car to swerve suddenly and collide with another, resulting in serious and moderate injury of 5 others.

Sharjah Police received information about an accident on the Airport Road between intersections 4 and 3.

Police patrols and national ambulances rushed to the scene. Police said the vehicle which caused the accident was driven by an 18-year-old GCC national, accompanied by two compatriots, 17 and 15, when the car suddenly swerved due to excessive speed, which resulted in its collision with another vehicle with 3 people.

The two companions of the deceased sustained severe and moderate injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle, an Asian, 30, sustained minor injuries, and his companions, an Asian, 37, and an Arab, 47, were moderately injured.

In May 2020, an Emirati woman in her thirties sustained moderate injuries when a heavy-duty truck overturned and hit a vehicle she was in at Sakamkam Roundabout, Fujairah City.

According to Brigadier Dr Ali Rashid Bin Awash, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Fujairah Police, the accident took place at the end of Yabsa Bypass Road connecting Sheikh Maktoum Street and Fujairah Port Street on Saturday.

A heavy-duty truck heading to the Fujairah Port overturned and hit the Emirati woman’s vehicle, he said, adding that both the Emirati woman and the truck driver sustained moderate injuries and were admitted to Fujairah Hospital for medical treatment. Both drivers are in a stable condition, Dr Ali said.
