The Abu Dhabi Police warned drivers against leaving their cars running while shopping, or at fuel stations, because they may be stolen.

The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols stressed the need not to leave vehicles in the operating position, noting that some vehicle users may leave their children, especially infants within cars.

The Police added that article no.70 of the Federal Traffic Act stipulates that the person who is not committed to signs and traffic guidelines would be fined Dhs500.

The police added that traffic rules stipulated that it is not allowed to stop in the prohibited places, and that if the driver had to stop on the road, he must take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of traffic on the road, noting that he must not leave the vehicle with its engine running.
