Another joke by US President Joe Biden is doing the rounds on social media platforms.

Biden during his St Patrick's Day speech joked that, “I may be Irish but I am not stupid.”

Biden slammed Russia’s Vladimir Putin a “murderous dictator and pure thug.”

Biden also called him a war criminal.

“Father before I began, bless me, father I'm about to sin,' Biden cracked at Rayburn Room in the Capitol.

The president said, “Well, I just want you to know, I may be Irish but I'm not stupid. I married Dominic Giacoppo's daughter,' he quipped, referencing the Sicilian name of Jill Biden's father, Donald Jacobs.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Biden was "speaking from his heart" after seeing images on television of "barbaric actions by a brutal dictator through his invasion of a foreign country."

Putin ordered a large-scale invasion of Ukraine three weeks ago, saying Russia wants to force the disarmament of Ukraine's military and topple the pro-Western government.

Ukrainian defence minister Oleksii Reznikov told European lawmakers on Wednesday that the EU should recognise Russian President Vladimir Putin as a war criminal after Russia invaded Ukraine.
