Outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson delivered his farewell address in Downing Street on Tuesday morning.

In his speech, Johnson stressed that his government’s achievements are undeniable, most notably in the files of Brexit, the coronavirus and the support for Ukraine, saying, “We faced the economic crisis caused by Russian President Vladimir Putin with courage,” he said, according to local media.

Johnson added that it was a difficult time for Britain's economy and families.

Johnson commented on the new government headed by Liz Truss, saying: "I will provide the next government with all the necessary support... We will support Liz Truss, her team and her programme."

After his speech, Johnson went to the royal palace to formally submit his resignation to Queen Elizabeth.

Dozens of Downing Street employees gathered to bid farewell to Boris Johnson after the end of his duties as prime minister, and this came after he decided in mid-July to resign from his position, after many lawmakers and ministers in the government objected to his handling of a series of scandals, including violating the rules Lockdown during rallies held in his Downing Street office.

It is worth noting that British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss won the leadership of the ruling Conservative Party, to become prime minister, succeeding Boris Johnson, where she won 57 per cent of the votes of party members.
