Up to Dhs500,000 fine, detention for promoting fundraising without a licence

The UAE Public Prosecution (PP), on Wednesday, clarified through a video published on its social media accounts the penalty of advocating and promoting fundraising without a licence.

The UAE PP said that in accordance with Article 46 of federal Decree-law No.34 of 2021 on combating rumours and cybercrimes, whoever creates, manages or supervises a website or published information on the information network or any information technology means to advocate or promote a fundraising.

without a licence approved by the competent authorities or in violation of the terms of this licence, shall be sentenced to detention and a fine of no less than Dhs200,000 and more than Dhs500,000, or either of these two penalties.

This comes as part of the Public Prosecution’s continuous efforts to promote legal culture among members of the community and increase their awareness about the latest legislation in the country.
