An African national died on the spot after being hit by a vehicle in Sharjah on Saturday afternoon, according to Sharjah police.

The incident occurred at 1.00pm when the victim attempted to cross the Industrial Area 4 Road via a non-pedestrian area and was hit by a vehicle driven by an Asian driver.

The driver sustained injures and was hospitalised to receive treatment and later will be questioned.

The identity of the victim, whose body was taken to hospital, is not yet confirmed.
