SHARJAH: Zulekha Hospital has launched its new 24-hour Pediatric Emergency Department in its Sharjah hospital to treat pediatric medical emergencies.

“We launched the Paediatric Emergency Department to ease babies with critical cases. With special areas within the unit dedicated to paediatrics, fast track cases, resuscitation and general treatment, our team offers timely medical attention to emergency cases. We have dedicated paediatric doctors on duty in the Emergency Department on a round-the-clock service basis to ensure that patients have the best possible care available to them,” said Zanubia Shams, Co-Chairperson of Zulekha Healthcare Group.

The pediatric emergency services include, but are not limited to, rapid sequence intubation, airway management and mechanical ventilation, defibrillation, pediatric advanced life support, neonatal resuscitation, neonatology and pediatric services, haemodynamic monitoring, intravenous therapy, laboratory and radiology diagnostics and minor procedures.

The newly opened department has adopted the Triage System in which patients are assessed according to the urgency of their case which ensures that those in a serious condition receive priority care.
