DUBAI: Liverpool Football Club’s International Academy has launched its much-awaited full-time coaching programme in the UAE with English College and GEMS First Point School – The Villa becoming the first local schools to sign up for the scheme run by the British football giants.

Designed primarily to provide young players with the opportunity to learn to play ‘The Liverpool Way’, the youth coaching project in the UAE has been developed in collaboration with PESCO, a Dubai-based sports and events management company.

The programme will initially focus on schools in Dubai but will be eventually expanded to train youngsters within a network of schools in the UAE.

Leslie Hamilton said: “We are delighted to be a part of this project by Liverpool FC and see this more than a sporting programme, as one that would help mould our children into responsible citizens.”

Stephen Sharples, Principal of GEMS First Point School — The Villa said, “We are proud to host the International Academy of Liverpool FC and feel that it helps to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, build valuable team work skills and develop players to achieve their potential in this sport. We consider the involvement of Liverpool FC a great benefit to not only the school, but the wider community across.”
