UAE defeat Yemen in friendly

DOHA: The UAE national football team defeated Yemen 2-0 in a friendly match played at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday. UAE’s Amer Abdulrahman found the net in the 61st minute and Omar Abdel Rahman increased the lead in the 82nd minutes off a powerful long-range shot to grab glory for UAE. The first half ended in a goalless draw with UAE dominating the match.

Both sides are preparing for the upcoming 21st Gulf Cup scheduled in Manama, Bahrain from Jan.5 to 18, 2013.

UAE head coach Mahdi Ali started the match with keeper Ali Khusaif, defenders Mohammed Fawzi, Waleed Abbas, Amer Abdul Rahman, Ali Mabkhout, Hamdan Al Kamali, Ahmed Khalil, Khamis Ismail, Abdul Aziz Sanqoor, Mohammed Ahmed and Omer Abdul Rahman. Ismail Matar, Muhanad Al Enazi, Abdul Aziz Haikal, Ismail Al Hammadi, Saeed Al Kathiri and Majid Hassan substituted Waleed Abbas, Mohammed Fawzi, Ali Mabkhout, Hamdan Al Kamali, Ahmed Khalil and Khamis Ismail.
