Pak president attends UAE embassy's N-Day celebration

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan attended on Sunday a ceremony hosted by the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Isa Abdullah Al Basha Al Nuaimi to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the UAE National Day.

Al Nuaimi received other guests who included chief of staff of the Pakistani Naval Forces, governors of the four provinces, federal ministers, senior military officers and diplomats.

In a statement made during the ceremony, Zardari extended greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and to the people of the UAE.

He praised his country's progressive ties with the UAE and recalled the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan's gestures in Pakistan.

Zardari said thanks to the wise leadership of Sheikh Khalifa, the UAE had become a symbol of progress in the new millennium.
