DLD committed to achieve UAE’s 2021 vision

DUBAI: Dubai Land Department (DLD)’s stand at GITEX Technology Week was the focus of attention for those seeking smart solutions for real estate services for Dubai’s burgeoning property sector. The final day of the exhibition saw DLD representatives receiving a great number of visitors keen to know about the prominent technological achievements made by the department designed to serve all segments of customer.

“With our participation in “Gitex 2015” we were committed to achieve UAE’s 2021 vision, and to support its efforts towards becoming a smart city, not only by launching smart applications, services and new initiatives, but in registering our presence in any occasion that helps us to interact directly with our customers. Gitex itself reflects the trends driving to highlight Dubai’s position, so our presence is necessary under the umbrella of Dubai Smart Government,” said Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD.

DLD’s latest applications received high acclaim from the stand visitors, who registered a distinct interaction with DLD’s representatives who were able to respond to all the questions, and provide appropriate explanation on the features of the applications presented, and its role in the transformation of the department’s services to the e-format.

“At DLD we look forward to achieve many goals to raise our customers’ level of happiness, and facilitate their transactions. We note that the innovations recorded by the department in the technical field will help us to record high rates of customer’s satisfaction, and encourage investors to choose Dubai as their first future destination; especially as Dubai overcome the global cities on the global index of doing business,” concluded Bin Mejren.

DLD’s team presented the “Investment Map” portal, the intelligent real estate market using Internet browsers and smart devices, the portal was launched by Real Estate Investment Management and Promotion Center, the investment arm of Dubai Land Department to attract major investors for off-plan available projects. It carries an integrated set of applications and Dubai real estate best practices in addition to Google’s search tool that enable all investors and businessmen to access many investment project opportunities through their smart devices that will help them ease the decision making process and to transact online using secure government portal.

DLD also presented the Registration Trustees application, the service that authorises specialized and certified third-party offices by Dubai Land Department to register the key real estate procedures in sites spread all over Dubai and operate outside of regular working hours of the department, As well as the “Dubai Brokers” application, the smart application providing accurate information about Dubai Brokers and Real Estate Agents Offices that are licensed and approved by DLD. The latest application “Mashrooi” (My Project) the smart application designed for the real estate developers and its investors by providing accurate information about the master developer, sub developer, projects and escrow account information from DLD robust property management system.

DSG, DED

Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) and the Department of Economic Development (DED) have announced plans to transform government services using IBM’s cognitive computing system called ‘Watson’ during a press conference on the final day of Gitex Technology Week 2015. The government is working in collaboration with IBM to launch the new service, which will, in the initial stage enable exclusively DED customers, to benefit from the advanced self-service provided by the system to respond to all their inquiries related the DED’s services.

According to IBM, ‘Watson’ is a cognitive computing system that will allow customers to easily make their requests understood on government department websites. This means, for example, that business people looking to start new businesses in Dubai can easily request information and advice about new business set-up and receive all the relevant information about licenses and fees in written or audio format; without having to visit a government department or communicate with government employees via phone or email. This supports the Dubai Smart City Program launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai Smart Government said: “We have succeeded in making a series of landmark developments in recent months, based on the innovative goals set out by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in building a ‘creative government’, which can respond to rapid changes and develop effective solutions to achieve positive outcomes for Dubai’s citizens, residents and visitors. Our continued achievements drive us to keep striving for new levels of excellence and leadership in government which will further cement Dubai’s leading position in the world, in line with the objectives of Dubai Plan 2021.”

TAITRA

The Taiwan government participated in the Gitex Technology Week with 3 stand areas. The Taiwan Excellence Pavilion showcased award-winning brands and products. The second exhibition area Computex Taipei Pavilion unveiled a complete supply chain offering visitors a view of the world’s 1 supplier of notebooks, tablet PCs, motherboards, servers, wafer OEMs, LCD monitors, WLAN and PND. The Taiwan story is packed with firms who have successfully shifted from ODM/OEM manufacturing approach to high end tech-intensive expertise. While the third exhibition area Taiwan Pavilion will showcased 11 ICT-related Taiwanese companies present providing additional information about the Taiwantrade Arabic ICT Zone and other promotional items.

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) recently launched their online portal Taiwan Trade Arabic ICT Zone. The Taiwantrade Arabic ICT Zone is a part of the Taiwantrade website- Taiwan’s leading B2B platform.

Featuring over 900 Taiwanese ICT companies and a total of 6,000 product catalogs, the Arabic website provides an excellent way for companies in the Middle East to explore and find Taiwanese suppliers through the wide range of online services which is a vital market for Taiwan.

The launch of the Arabic portal took place during the Taiwan Excellence global tour “2015 Taiwan Excellence Days in Dubai” which was held from September 9 to 12, 2015 at the Star Atrium of The Dubai Mall. The exhibit of over 100 award-winning products from 60 Taiwanese brands, including IT devices, creative merchandize, medical equipment, and sports gear attracted visitors.

The bilateral trade between Taiwan and United Arab Emirates amounted to $7.1 billion in 2014, making UAE one of Taiwan’s top trading partners.

Globally recognised as an island of innovation, Taiwan not only supplies 85 per cent of the world’s Windows-based PCs but also provides around 80 per cent of the world’s data communications equipment. The ICT products and electronic components made by Taiwanese companies are consistently ranked among the best in the world, and Taiwanese chip makers TSMC and UMC are behind nearly 50 per cent of the world’s semiconductor manufacturing business.

Redington

Redington Value, a distribution division of Redington Gulf, on Thursday announced a new partnership with CyberArk, a security solutions provider aiming to address the growing threat of successful cyber attacks. The new partnership will enable Redington Value to distribute CyberArk’s Privileged Account Security Platform across the Middle East and Africa region.

CyberArk, the recognised market leader in Privileged Account Security, aims to prevent hackers from entering the system through a breach of administrator or key account holder privileges. The company’s approach is to eliminate the advanced cyber threats, especially those that use privileged user credentials to attack the heart of the enterprise.

Marketed with a slogan that it is dedicated to stopping attacks before they stop business, CyberArk proactively secures against cyber threats before attacks can escalate and do irreparable damage.

DVCOM

Distributors, during the Gitex Technology Week focused on expanding their channel network by showcasing and launching their communications and networking vendor’s products including Digium, DrayTek, Yealink, Yeastar, Media5 and 2N among others.

The company – DVCOM - introduced DrayTek’s latest additions to the Vigor series including Vigor2925Vac, Vigor2925L, VigorAP 910C. DrayTek’s VigorAP 910C is a ceiling mount Access Point with PoE for offering power supply and support, making it ideal for the hospitality industry, SMB and small campuses.

Linksys

Networking leader Linksys has extended its commitment to enhance user experience with the launch of range of integrated products ranging from wireless connectivity devices to range extenders at the Gitex Technology Week 2015.

“Our product legacy dates back to the early years when we pioneered the home networking products and solutions with WRT series of wireless routers. And understanding the needs of the small and medium businesses is in our DNA as we once started as an SMB enterprise ourselves,” said Amanulla Khan, Managing Director-Middle East and Africa, Linksys.

The WRT legacy of one of the oldest product lines, with over 50 million routers sold till date, WRT1900ACS offers the same reliability as its predecessors with an improved performance, look and solutions interface. Another addition to the home networking solutions is Linksys’ new line of range extenders including RE6300, RE6400 and RE6700 designed to amplify the speed and reliability offering freedom from network dead-zones.

B2B solutions

Samsung Electronics has said that enterprise solutions should empower professionals to be great at what they do, and the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+, launched recently during Gitex Technology Week, deliver by putting industry-leading solutions in a powerful and familiar package.

Mohammed Gharaibeh, Head of Samsung Enterprise Business Group, Samsung Gulf Electronics said, “Driven by a commitment to relentless innovation, we took our deep expertise in consumer electronics, and developed sector-specific solutions that offer decision-makers high-performing, competitive and secure solutions for every kind of business.”

Samsung showcased its full end-to-end business portfolio at the show, covering the corporate office space, education, transportation, retail, hospitality and the quick service restaurant. Nearly every vertical suite is comprised of mobile devices, mobile device management solutions, Samsung SMART Signage displays, and printing solutions that come together to amplify business outcomes and meet business requirements, such as securing enterprise data or making the in-store experience come alive customer.

New for corporate customers, the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are optimised to enhance productivity and deliver superior business performance.

The company also launched its suite of enterprise communications during the show. Known as Smart WLAN, this umbrella Wi-Fi solution is designed to enable a true, all-wireless network in any business—from transportation and retail to the corporate office space & outdoor.

Qualcomm

Qualcomm is hoping to be the driving force behind the Smart technology revolution. The company, which is well established in the region, looks towards UAE’s mission to build a Smart City.

They actively participated in the week-long 35th edition Gitex Technology Week. Ziad Matar, Qualcomm’s director of business development for the Middle East region, said the company is rolling up its sleeves to go an extra mile and become the enablers across the digital platform.

The coming months will be an interesting time to watch what the US-based chip giants have in store for the region. He added that Qualcomm is finding a way to unify government and public services.

“It is important to have all of the city’s information and services for business, pleasure or travel. 3G and 4G standards differ all around the world, we would utilise our global footprint in ensuring seamless connectivity will be available throughout the world,” added Ziad.

Qualcomm have come up with several programmes that also includes Fastrack, which is Qualcomm’s developer incubator programme, has been around for a couple of years now. It has produced a few applications, but the programme seems to have found some direction of late. “The Fastrack platform will be dedicated to education (www.fasttrack.edu). We have started to work with different developers to gather all the educational solutions and make them available to our partners and schools that we will work with. Also, for app packages to be preloaded with devices would be another of our initiatives.

Qualcomm is also working with device manufacturers to provide the right devices in the suitable markets. They believe a device that is popular in the UAE will not necessarily be popular in Egypt. In an attempt to connect all the dots, Qualcomm are also working closely with the telcos in the region. Today, a family consisting of parents and their 2 children can own as many as 5-6 devices (smartphones and tablets), managing the data and bills can be a cumbersome exercise, and, hence, Qualcomm are working to simplify these data plans.
