ABU DHABI: Amjad Ali and Qazi Ayub contributed with the bat and the ball in the United Bank Limited’s emphatic victory over Royal Gymkhana in the UBL Twenty20 Cup.
The UAE international batsman, Amjad, fired a typically aggressive 121 not out and the veteran off-spinner, Ayub, took five for 21 from four overs for the sponsor’s team to make it two-out-of two after 98-run triumph at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
Amjad smashed 22 fours and featured in two partnerships. He put on 115-in 11 overs for the first wicket with Aqeel Anwar (28) and added 77 for the second wicket with Abdullah Afzal (44 off 21 balls).
Khurram Saeed then did the early damage by claiming the first three wickets to have Royal Gymkhana in a bit of a spot at 36 for three before Ayub and Ahmed Raza bowled in tandem to run through the rest of the batting.
New Medical Centre bounced back to register their second win in three games after a 69-run result over Robt Stone.
Asim Ijaz stroked 67 not out in NMC’s 176 for four while Mohammed Sajid, Nalin Thenuwara, and Atif Ijaz took two wickets each to dismiss Robt Stone for 107 in 17 overs.
In another match Seven Seas Strikers defeated Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technology by six run. Seven seas made 153 while their rivals could score only 147.
