DUBAI: The Ministry of Health and Prevention revealed that the inspection department from the Public Policy and Licensing Sector, along with the security department, spotted an unlicensed medical centre and an apartment set up for plastic surgery.

The apartment practised treatments such as skin tightening, liposuction and others, while paying no proper attention to safety health conditions.

False impression

The staff at the medical centre gave the patients a false impression that the apartment was a licensed operating room and was appended to the health centre.

They lured people to visit their centre through plastic surgery ads on a website and a Facebook account.

Operating room

After obtaining the Public Prosecution’s permission, the inspection and security team went to the apartment which was located adjacent to the centre, in the presence of its staff, to find a fully equipped operating room with all the tools and equipment needed to perform surgeries.

The centre also had three additional treatment rooms. They also found boxes of medicines supplied from an unknown source.

Samples

The seized samples were sent to the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Quality Control Laboratory located in Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park for detailed inspection. Additionally, an iPad containing all photos of the operations performed in the centre were also seized.

Based on this, the Department of Economic Development was contacted to cancel the medical centre’s licence and shut down the centre and the apartment.
