Unmatchable statesman

We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. Today we observe with great dignity and respect the third death anniversary of the late Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam (May his soul rest in peace). His role in helping establish the United Arab Emirates is etched in history. He was a true pioneer of the UAE media’s industry who contributed greatly to his country as a statesman, scholar and influential figure. He was the youngest Minister for Education and Justice Minister in the Cabinet of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, mourned the death of Dr Abdullah. Sheikh Mohammed said: “I offer condolences to our people on the death of Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam, Emirati loyal son, statesman and renowned mediaperson. Today I lost a dear brother, Abu Khalid, and a loyal friend, known of good conduct, courage, clarity of opinion, intention and sense of belonging and loyalty to his homeland and leadership.” The void left by his untimely departure is something which  will never be filled.

They pay tributes and homage to him and always remember him in their prayers. May Allah Almighty grant him the highest place in heaven and provide courage to his family members and torch-bearers, including his sons Khalid Abdullah Taryam, Dar Al Khaleej Chairman and Editor in Chief of Al Khaleej newspaper, and Omran Abdullah Taryam, Vice Chairman of Dar Al Khaleej, daughters Amira Taryam, Editor in Chief of Kul Al Usra, and Aysha Taryam, the first Middle Eastern female Editor in Chief of an English language newspaper, The Gulf Today, to bear his great loss and give them strength to carry forward their late father’s legacy (Ameen).

Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam was a statesman and journalist par excellence. His role in helping establish the United Arab Emirates is etched in history. His contributions as Minister for Education and Minister for Justice are also well known.

As founder of the Al Khaleej Newspaper, he not only laid the foundations of journalism in this country, but also helped build capacity in this field by establishing a free training Centre for Emirati media persons.

On his third death anniversary we pay homage to this visionary leader remember his contributions, and pray to Almighty Allah for his eternal peace and bliss.

On the third anniversary of the passing of the late Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam, I pay tribute to his lasting legacy. All of us in the UAE continue to see the fruits of his tireless work. Holding top posts in government and co-founding an influential media group, the late Dr Abdullah played a key role in shaping the UAE of today.

In the UAE history, there are people who enrich the life with significant achievements. The late Dr Abdullah Taryam is among Emirati elite that serve the community and contribute to the progress of the UAE.

In addition to his experience as a statesman when he hold several senior positions as a minister, the late Dr Abdulla left footprints on the UAE modern media and press. Being a co-founder of Al Khaleej newspaper, later being Al Khaleej House, the late established foundation for contemporary press that turned over the years a beacon to all other Arab papers.

However, despite his grand loss, we are confident that his sons and daughters as well as the people working at Al Khaleej are all loyal and will continue the path to the success and excellence.

The late Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam was a true pioneer of the UAE media’s industry who contributed greatly to his country as a statesman, scholar and influential figure. He also contributed significantly to developing the UAE’s journalism, education and political landscapes and his legacy lives on through his remarkable accomplishments.

My heart bleeds over the loss of a great statesman. The late Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam was a great leader and a game-changer for many of us. 

He was a national symbol of the UAE and one of the country’s most respected sons, statesmen and journalists. He constantly promoted the virtues of reason and dialogue through his publications to uphold the truth and dedicated his life to the uplift of society. His passing was a true loss to the nation and on the occasion of his third death anniversary I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to his family and pray that his legacy shines across generations.

Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam is remembered as an Emirati loyal son, noble statesman, and a renowned media-person. He is counted as one of the main figures of UAE before and after its establishment, as he played a key role in paving the political landscape of UAE. He is greatly missed as the first and one of the youngest ministers to become the Minister of Education in the history of the UAE. As a Professor in the Higher Education Sector and a founder and President of a University, I believe Dr. Abdullah laid the foundation for schools and universities in the country. As we mark three years of his passing, May he rest in Peace as his contributions live on for generations to come.

Founder of the Dar Al Khaleej Press and Publishing House, Minister of Justice, Minister of Education, Symbol of the UAE and Arab media or a noble Emirati statesman they all essentially mean the same person, Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam. His passion for development for his country, endurance in leading the paths for the Arab Media and his value for words was exemplary and had a resounding effect on people. A street in Dubai has also been named in his honor as a mark of respect for the endless initiatives he took during his life for the betterment of the people.  Excellence was reflected in everything he did, three years on his legacy continues.

The late Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam is a legend who cannot be forgotten and cannot be erased from the memory of everyone who dealt with him. His untimely departure is a big loss to the media sector of the Arab region. He was very loyal to his country and played a key role in the UAE carving a niche in the whole world.

He contributed to the UAE and Arab media. His death has deprived the media professionals of the United Arab Emirates of a great teacher. He left his imprint on each of these fields.

May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace and grant him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Ferdos (Ameen).

Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam will always be remembered for paving a fundamental role in paving the way for many media establishments locally and regionally.He founded and successfully led the Dar Al Khaleej publishing house and acquired a forefront in the media landscape in the Mena region with an elite of top tier publications in Arabic and English. His publications until today apply rigid editorial standards making them stand out significantly in the masses.

Those who personally knew the late Dr Abdullah Taryam, will understand that he was a genial person with a dynamic personality.
