DUBAI: The Dubai Police have ruled out criminal suspicion in the death of an Asian student at a university campus in Dubai on Thursday morning.

The police confirmed that the student died after he committed suicide by jumping from the 5th floor of the university’s building.

According to a security official, the investigations showed that the 20-year-old student committed suicide because of failing for two consecutive years in the university, which discharged him for this reason.

The student’s family did not know that their son had been discharged or that he failed for two years.

The student’s father was feeling something wrong, so he insisted to accompany his son to the university and pay the fees himself.

When the father and son reached the university, the son told his father, “I will go to the washroom.” The student was sure that his father would know the truth. He preferred to die than to face his father.

The student walked to 5th floor knowing that these were his last moments in life and in the university, where he was unable to succeed in studies.

His classmate said that they were chatting before the incident and he was speaking normally. He did not feel that his friend was depressed. He was shocked when he heard that his friend died at the university, as the last thing he knew was that he and his father were heading to the university on Thursday at 10:30 am.

He said, “I’m really very sorry for that, I never expected he will do so.”

The Dubai Police received a tip-off from the university reporting the incident, and immediately the competent teams rushed to the scene.

The student was found motionless drenched in blood on the ground of the campus.

He died on the spot.

The body was sent to the forensic expert, while the investigations were initiated into the incident to reveal its circumstances, the official said.

In a statement, the university administration expressed regret for the incident and offered its condolences to the student’s family, stressing that the incident caused great shock to all.

The administration affirmed that they provide counselling services to all students and staff and closely followed the investigations into the incident.
