DUBAI: Facebook announced on Thursday that one billion people are using the platform at least once a month. Since its launch, 1.13 trillion likes and 140.3 billion friend connections were generated, with 219 billion photos shared since the launch of this application in the fall of 2005, which represent the total number of photos currently on the site, excluding deleted photos. Facebook also revealed that 17 billion check-ins were made, which included location-tagged posts.
Statistics disclosed by Facebook also show that 62.6 million songs have been played 22 billion times - that’s about 210,000 years of music - and represents song plays since the launch of music-listening applications in September 2011.
Commenting on this milestone, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Facebook, said: This morning there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month. Thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you. Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.”
Facebook also revealed that 2.45 billion content items and 2.7 billion “Likes” are shared every day on Facebook and more than 300 million photos are uploaded daily.
