NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday demanded a white paper on demonetisation from the central government, saying that people suffered immensely from it.

“People suffered immensely due to demonetisation. Many died. Business suffered. People have a right to know - what was achieved through demonetisation? The government should come out with a white paper on the same,” Kejriwal said in a tweet.

He attached a tweet which said the RBI’s annual report had stated that 99.3 per cent of all money in circulation came back to the banking system after the note ban.

The central government on Nov.8, 2016 announced it was taking back all Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 bank notes.

Kejriwal on Wednesday said that his government will double the reservation for the patients of the capital in the Delhi State Cancer Institute in Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.

Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal announced that “80 per cent facilities will be reserved for Delhi patients instead of the previous 40 per cent reservation.”

Kejriwal made the announcement after visiting the hospital to inaugurate a new private ward in Delhi State Cancer Institute along with Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam and Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

He further said: “6.5 acres more space will be allotted” to the hospital.

Kejriwal also ensured that the proposals for additional equipment, which have been pending with the Delhi government, will be cleared in 10 days.
