Sharjah Police laud Pakistani

SHARJAH: Director of Police Stations of Sharjah Police, Colonel Dr Khalifa Kalender Abdullah, honoured Abdul-Ahed Abdul-Qayyum, a Pakistan national for his outstanding efforts in combatting crime by arresting a thief who stole a gold chain from an Asian woman.

Abdul-Qayyum was able to capture the accused and held the culprit until the arrival of police. He handed him over to the security services to complete the legal proceedings.

The Director of Police stations of Sharjah Police said that the cultural and security awareness among the segments of the society has borne fruits.

It helps the security services in carrying out their duty towards unacceptable acts of crime and therefore enhance public security in the UAE.

Colonel Kalander pointed out that the Sharjah Police General Command realised it was of utmost importance to achieve security and safety of the citizens, residents and society.

Any act to disturb the equilibrium will not be tolerated by the police.

Public awareness and vigilance are the most important factors in thwarting acts of crime.

Police have urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities on the following numbers (800151), via SMS (7999), or call the central operations on (999) in case of emergency and severe accidents, and (901) in cases of non-emergency and minor accidents.
