BELGRADE: Serbia’s war crimes prosecutor says a former paramilitary fighter suspected of committing war crimes during the 1998-99 war in Kosovo has been arrested in Germany.

Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic said Friday that Zoran Obradovic was arrested on a Serbian warrant.

Vukcevic says he expects the German authorities to hand over the suspect soon. Obradovic is a former member of the notorious Sakali, or Jackals, unit.

He is suspected of taking part in the torture, killing, looting and expulsion of ethnic Albanian civilians in the western Kosovo village of Cuska. A trial opened earlier this week against 16 men suspected of the same crime.
