Two killed, one injured in car crash

RAS Al KHAIMAH: A young man and a woman, both Asians, were killed, while a third sustained minor injuries in a car accident that occurred in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday. They were riding a vehicle, which suddenly swerved before it crashed into a large crane.

Brig. Mohammed Saeed Al-Humaidi, Director General of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that the operations room of the police received a call at 7:30 am, about a vehicle hitting a crane which caused two deaths. The 28-year-old Asian driver died as a result of his severe injury and so did a passenger, 22, Asian. While, another, 32, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The two bodies were also transferred to a hospital in preparation for their extradition to their families. The file of the incident has been referred to the competent authorities to complete the legal proceedings, he said.

He called on the drivers to exercise caution, especially at sites with projects under construction, where large equipments and mechanisms exist. He also urged them to reduce speed, stressing the importance of adherence to traffic rules, which enhance the safety of the public and reduce traffic accidents.
