AUST announces new programmes at Getex

AJMAN: Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST)  took part in the Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (Getex 2013) held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 17-19.

AUST participated a significant stand which lured thousands of visitors who flocked in to check out the new programmes, training and services proposed by Ajman University.

Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, who inaugurated the exhibition, halted at the AUST stand and chatted with the representatives there.

He was welcomed by Osama Salman, AUST vice-president, in the presence of Dr Ahmad Ankit, assistant to the university president for external relations and cultural affairs and Dr Basheer Shehadah, assistant to the university president for follow-up and development.

Students and parents visited the stand of Ajman University, where they were introduced to AUST’s nine colleges and its 44 accredited programmes offered this year, including 32 undergraduate and 12 graduate degree programmes.

During the event, Salman stated, “The university, as part of the ongoing efforts to implement its strategic plan aiming at the diversification and upgrading of academic programmes to meet the needs of a fast-growing and constantly-evolving job market, is considering, in consultation with the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Affairs, offering new bachelor, diploma as well as master programmes in the short and medium terms.”

Salman noted that these programmes will be announced respectively once they are formally accredited by the CAA, expressing his confidence that the fresh courses will be a quantum leap forward for the university’s educational offerings.

The new programmes expected in the near future are the reactivated Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Master of Architecture and Urban Studies, in addition to three other programmes - Bachelor of International Relations and Diplomacy, Master in Legal Translation and Master of Interior Design.

Salman also pointed out that Ajman University is currently preparing additional programmes that will be introduced in 2014-2015 academic year, including a Master in Educational Leadership and two Dental Masters in Orthodontics and Paedodontics.
