Sensex ends in red on heavy selling of finance stocks

MUMBAI: The key equity indices extended their losses during the trade on Friday following heavy selling in financial sector stocks. The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 36,009.84, lower by 96.66 points or 0.27 per cent from the previous close of 36,106.50.

The broader Nifty50 declined by 26.65 points or 0.25 per cent to 10,794.95.

Caution ahead of the key micro-economic data and selling in key sector stocks dragged the indices.

Realty sector stocks traded lower after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said at the GST Council Meeting that a decision on the rate reduction for under-construction homes will be taken at a later meeting.
