SHARJAH: Parts of the UAE witnessed heavy to moderate rainfall on Wednesday, bringing some relief to residents from the searing heat.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said on its Twitter account that there was rainfall in some areas of Hatta, Sharjah, Al Saa in Al Ain, Masafi valley and some interior areas.

However, residents in the central areas of Sharjah did not witness any rain.

The highest temperature in the country was recorded at 48.7°C in Al Dhaid and Saih Al Salem areas at noon, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 26°C in the Jais Mountains.

The NCMS also warned of poor visibility in some areas. Residents have been urged to drink lots of water to remain hydrated.
