Sharjah: Bahraini shooters reigned supreme at the Arab Women Sports Tournament’s 25m pistol finals concluded on Thursday, with shooting expert Mouza Ali hitting an awe-inspiring score of 21 points, followed by her peer, Ayesha Al Buraiki, who claimed the contest silver with 17 points.

In a show of honour and respect, Mouza dedicated this big win to her country.

Following the victory of the top Bahraini team, third place was secured by Salma Al Hosani from the Sharjah with her 8 points winning the coveted bronze in the individual 25m pistol shooting event.

The fourth edition of the AWST is being held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Sharjah Women Sports Foundation.

Sheikha Hayat Bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Board Member of Bahraini Olympic Committee and Chairperson of AWST’s Follow-up and Supervision Committee; Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Brigadier Abdul Malek Jani, Director of the National Olympic Academy, were present during the presentation ceremony.

Glory for Mo’atah Club

Unbeaten Jordan’s Mo’atah Club secured gold medal in the table tennis team competition.

, the AWST 2018 has bid farewell to yet another grand season of its team table tennis games, celebrating the victory of the Jordanian female table tennis club, and celebrating Kuwait’s Al Fatat Club for securing second place.

This was the tenth straight victory for Mo’atah Club’s. Kuwait’s Fatat Club was short by only one point, securing a total score of 9 points with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss against the Jordanian female table tennis team.

Sharjah in final

Sharjah Sports Club for Women blanked Kuwait’s Al Fatat Club 3-0 in the volleyball competition of AWST.

The big victory secured them a spot in the championship finals to be held on Feb.12.

In the first set, the Sharjah team dominated the proceedings from the beginning.

They managed to move ahead 14-6 quickly. Sharjah continued the pressure on the Kuwaitis, playing with much confidence, which brought them to a comfortable win in the first set with a score tally of 25-10.

The second set looked no different from the first one, and Sharjah, without letting a sense of complacency set in, continued to capitalise on the lead they had established early on in the game.

Al Fatat tried hard to get their act together in this set, but without a strong defense from them the initial score of 18-10 ended the second set in another comprehensive win for Sharjah with a final score tally of 25-12.

In the third set they regained momentum with a 2-2 tie. In response, the Sharjah players hit hard and took a 4-2 lead, followed by a quick score by the Kuwaitis reducing the score gap to 4-3 and then 12-5 – a certain improvement but not good enough to change the course of the match.

The Sharjah Sports Club proved too much to take for their opponents, and ended in another comfortable win for the home team with a third set tally of 25-12.
