DUBAI: Sheridan Hadfield came up with a brutal knock of 113 from just 42 balls, which was instrumental in Dubai Mammoths victory over Roaring Lion in a Dubai Cricket Council’s Ramadan League match.
Mammoth reached the stiff target of 214 to triumph by a comprehensive nine wicket after Lions posted the huge total.
The tournament is is sponsored by JK White Cement (Fujairah), Arabian Automobile Association (AAA) and Petrotek.
Dubai Mammoths won the toss but invited Roaring Lions to have a first go on The Sevens wicket. Prolific scorer Deepak Nicholas (79) and Rajeeb Naug (16) gave them a decent start. Deepak held one end up as wickets kept tumbling at the other.
Vikas Prasad (22), Naveen Olivera (21) and Bose Pratap (14) made valuable contributions but it was largely Deepak’s six sixes and four boundaries which carried the Lions to a formidable 213. Lucky Abbas and Shiva Pagarani came away with three wickets each.
At first it looked like a good total to defend but with Sheridan in crackling form and Prashanth Braggs, fresh from his unbeaten 84 in the previous match, together they made it look like a one-sided match.
Sheridan clobbered eight towering sixes and 13 fours and Braggs blasted his way to an unbeaten 44 from a mere 18 balls which contained four sixes and an equal number of fours.
The match was over by the 14th over for the loss of only Javed Siddiqui’s (33) wicket.
