SHARJAH: Arab Woman Awards has announced that its 2016 edition will honour Nora Jamal Al-Suwaidi, Director-General of Cancer Patient Care Society (Rahma) in recognition of her noble humanitarian and charitable work, volunteering and providing a helping hand to the needy and the sick.

She was honoured for her efforts in managing Rahma in accordance with the directions of Dr Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director-General of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research and Chairman of Rahma.

The Arab Woman Awards was launched in 2009 with the aim to raise public awareness of the significant achievements made by Arab women and to provide young women with inspirational role models.

Winners are selected by a board of judges comprising prominent personalities who play an important role in supporting women-related activities in various fields.

Al-Suwaidi is a prominent figure in the field of charitable and humanitarian work in the UAE. Her impressive work has come to light in Abu Dhabi emirate since April 2015, when the Abu Dhabi Executive Council directed that a charitable society be established to care for cancer patients in the emirate and in the UAE in general.
