President, VP receive Ramadan greetings

ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received cables of congratulations on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan from Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of Oman, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, President Isaias Afewerki of Eritrea, Interim Egyptian President Adly Mansour, and Sayyid Fahd Bin Mahmood Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers of Oman.

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, also congratulated Sheikh Khalifa on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and wished Sheikh Khalifa and the people of the UAE constant progress, security and safety.

Jarwan, in a statement, expressed appreciation of the initiative taken by Sheikh Khalifa, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, and the other Arab leaders through their donations to the ‘Support Egypt’ fund.

Sheikh Khalifa also received a phone call last night from Saad Hariri, the former Lebanese prime minister, in which he expressed his congratulations to Sheikh Khalifa on the occasion.

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has received similar cables of congratulations.

Jarwan underlined the importance of the initiative for supporting the Egyptian people and government to enable Cairo to resume playing its leading role as “the heart of the Arab Nation.” Jarwan urged all political parties in Egypt to reject violence and to close their ranks to face future challenges and to fulfill the aspirations of the Egyptian people to democracy, freedom, dignity and social justice.
He also expressed appreciation of the efforts made by the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Dr. Ahmed El Tayeb, and the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt, Pope Tawadros II, in support of the aspirations and ambitions of the Egyptian people.
