RAK worker buried alive in sand

RAS AL KHAIMAH: A 30-year-old Asian worker was killed after a pile of sand collapsed on him at an under construction site in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday.

Gen. Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, Director of the Civil Defence Department, said that the operations room received information at 10:35am that an accident had taken place at a building under construction.

The RAK Civil Defence officials rushed to the site and rescued two people.

Workers reported of a person trapped under the rubble. It was later discovered that he had died.

The file was transferred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.

Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi confirmed that the competent authorities in the Civil Defence and Ras Al Khaimah Police have stepped up their efforts and raised the level of readiness to deal with the emergency situation.

He said that all the employees in the operating room are fully prepared to deal with a situation and provide the necessary assistance to all through coordination with police and Civil Defence.
