Abu Dhabi: The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF), the official authority for Jiu-Jitsu in the UAE, announced the fourth leg of the most prestigious Jiu-Jitsu World Tour Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2017-18 to be hosted at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi on Jan.12-13,2018.

After three successful record breaking events in Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Rio de Janeiro, the Grand Slam promises an extravagant two-day carnival of the gentle art in the Capital by some of the world’s best players, before it heads to its fifth and final leg in London on March 10-11, 2018.

The medalists of each division will earn points in the UAEJJF World Rankings and cash prizes. Top ranked competitors will receive huge prizes at the end of the season according to the UAEJJF World Ranking. The winners at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam will take away a combined total of $190,000 in cash prize.

“With the vision and leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, he inspires and motivates us to develop human values through this beautiful sport of Jiu-Jitsu, not just the sporting value.

The players will be put into different age groups, that includes Juvenile [16-17], Adult [18-29], Master 1 [30-35] and Master 2 [36+].

“Our aim and mission is to transform the UAE into a world leader when it comes to Jiu-Jitsu, we as a nation always strive for perfection, and that is what we work towards to achieve,” said Abdulmunam Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of Jiu-Jitsu Asian Union & Senior Vice President of Jiu-Jitsu International Federation.
