DUBAI: The UAE passport has further consolidated its standing among the top ten in the world and jumped to the third most powerful passport, according to the Arton Capital Passport Index.

The latest update of the Passport Index showed that Emirati citizens can fly to 163 countries without need of a prior visa, further strengthening the UAE’s position in the world’s top 3 strongest passports, and the first in the Arab region and the Middle East.

Arton attributed the reason for this to the Emirati positive diplomacy.

In 2017, the UAE declared its aim to enabling the Emirati passport to take its place among the 5 most powerful passports in the world by 2021.

At that time, the passport was the most powerful in the GCC region, enabling the Emirati citizens to enter 132 countries around the world. By the end of May 2017, the passport was among the 20 most powerful passport in the world, having 147 points. The UAE is aiming to enable the Emiratis to enter all countries of the world without need of a prior visa.
