Sultan receives American University of Cairo president in AUS

SHARJAH: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, received the President of the American University in Cairo, AUC, Lisa Anderson, and her accompanying delegation at his office in the American University of Sharjah, AUS, on Monday.

Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, (Shurooq) attended the meeting. Sheikh Sultan welcomed Anderson and her accompanying delegation. He also exchanged cordial talks with her and discussed issues of mutual interest.

The AUC president briefed Sheikh Sultan on the AUC’s latest achievements and its plans for the academic and scientific research domains.

They also tackled joint cooperation and ways for enhancing scientific and research fields between AUS and AUC.

Later, Sheikh Sultan presented the memorial shield of the American University of Sharjah to Anderson. Meanwhile Anderson wrote a note in the university’s scroll, lauding the academic level of the American University in Sharjah thanks to the support and follow-up of the Sharjah Ruler.

A number of officials and educational figures also attend the meeting.

SEC Emiri decrees 

Sheikh Sultan has issued Emiri Decree No.83 for 2015 pertaining to the reconstituting of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC).

The decree stipulated in its first article the reformation of the SEC, headed by Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and the membership of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council; Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Central Department of Finance; Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of Seaports and Customs Department; Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Centre; Sheikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Urban Planning Council; Sheikh Khalid Bin Essam Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation of Sharjah; Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah; Sheikh Salem Bin Abdul Rahman Bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director-General of Sharjah Ruler’s office; Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations; Khamis Bin Salem Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs; Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Information; Afaf Bint Ebrahim Al Merri, Head of the Department of Social Services; Tariq Bin Sultan Bin Khadim, Head of the Department of Human Resources; Salah Bin Butti Al Muhairi, Head of the Department of Planning and Survey; Hana Bint Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Environment and Nature Reserves Authority; Rashid Bin Ahmad Al Shaikh, Head of the Emiri Diwan; Abdullah Bin Ali Muhayan, Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority; Sultan Bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department; Yousef Bin Saleh Sueji, Head of the Roads and Transport Authority; Ali Bin Salem Bin Abdul Rahman Al Madfaa, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport Authority; Khalifa Bin Misbah Al Tunaiji, Head of the Department of Housing; Saeed Muisabah Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Education Council; Salem Bin Mohammad Bin Salem Al Naqbi, Head of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture; Ali Saeed Sultan Mohammed Bin Shahin Al Suwaidi, Director of the Department of Public Works, and Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority. The second article stipulated that the decree shall be effective from the date of issuance, and that the concerned authorities shall implement its provisions. The decree will be published in the Official Gazette.

Labour standards 

Sheikh Sultan has also issued Emiri Decree No.78 on transferring Amina Khamis Gharib Al Nakhi, Director-General of the Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority, to the office of the Sharjah Ruler at the same functional degree.

Sheikh Sultan also issued Emiri Decree No. 79 of 2015, pertaining to transferring and appointing of the Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority.

Under the Decree, Salem Yousef Obaid Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Academic Office in the Emirate of Sharjah, will be transferred to the Labour Standards Development Authority and be appointed as Chairman of the authority at the rank of Head of Department.

The decree will be effective from the date of issuance and other competent authorities should implement its provisions. The decree will be published in the Official Gazette.

Chairman of SCTDA

Sheikh Sultan has also issued Emiri Decree No.82 of 2015 appointing the Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.

The decree stipulates the appointment of the Director-General of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, as Chairman of the Authority and Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The decree will be effective from the date of issuance, and competent authorities implement its provisions. The decree will be published in the Official Gazette.
