The early bird

Some people were born to be early risers. They wake up before the birds and spring out of bed ready to tackle whatever the day has in store for them. Then there are those other people who were not born to be early risers and for whom getting out of bed in the morning involves no springing whatsoever. This week we are taking a look at how a person can become an early riser and the benefits that go along with it.

One of the simplest ways to become an early riser is to greet the day when you wake up. Create a morning ritual that includes being thankful for your life and for your blessings. Being positive is a habit that you can learn just as being negative is a habit you can unlearn. Try this, stick to it and watch how your positive attitude gives you the best start to the day.

The earlier you wake up the more time you will have to prepare a healthy, nutritious breakfast. We all know the benefits of having a good breakfast but not all of us take the time to actually sit down and eat in the morning. It will give your mind and body fuel to face the day as well as prevent you from binging on unhealthy foods as you get hungry near midday.

On your mission to become an early riser, don’t make drastic changes to your morning routine at first. Go slow by waking up 15-30 minutes earlier than usual. When you get used to this you can gradually cut back the time until you are happy. Try not to stay up late watching TV shows and checking social media. We know this is easier said than done but no good will come from that last episode of Grey’s Anatomy which can definitely wait until tomorrow.
