DUBAI: An employee who flunked several driving tests then lashed out at a transport authority that it was ripping off the poor was fined Dhs500,000 on Tuesday.

The Asian man, 25, maligned and scorned the authority in an email that in case it was after money, it was up to its staff to frankly stand before him and others and beg them for it, records showed.

He described himself as a victim of botched attempts to obtain a driving licence. He claimed it was not right to deliberately repeatedly fail hardworking poor persons and swindle their money.

Investigations revealed he was the one who emailed the authority using his iPhone on April 30.2017. The authority’s legal consultant lodged a complaint at the Rashidiyah Police Station.

At the Criminal Court he argued, “I am not guilty.” He had confessed before prosecutors. The jury slapped him with a Dhs500,000 fine and imprisoned him for three months plus deportation.

An Emirati official, 32, said that the he was on duty at the legal affairs department when the staff complained about an offensive email targeting them and the authority in general.

The email was telling the authority to stop ripping off the hardworking poor. The sender told the authority to start begging instead of repeatedly failing people with the aim of taking their money.

He described the authority as worthless, claimed it tampers with the feelings of the poor and warned it will one day get a suitable reward from the unrighteous policy.
