AJMAN: Vice President - Healthcare Division and board member of the Dubai-based international conglomerate Thumbay Group, Akbar Moideen Thumbay, has been inducted into the Alumni Wall of Fame of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), in recognition of his merit and professional accomplishments.

The formal announcement was made at the university’s 10th Annual Alumni Reunion Dinner on Jan.19 at the AUS campus.

The event, graced by the presence of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS, saw the participation of more than 2,000 AUS alumni from all over the world.

It is the event’s annual tradition to recognise those alumni who made a difference during their time at AUS as well as those who have achieved great success in their careers, by adding them to the Alumni Wall of Fame. The honorees are chosen from a pool of candidates nominated by their fellow alumni.

Thumbay completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Sharjah (AUS). He later went on to continue his postgraduate studies in Hospital Management from the renowned SDA Boccioni School of Management, Milan, Italy.

He joined Thumbay Group, the multinational business conglomerate founded by his father Thumbay Moideen, on a full-time basis. He was elevated to the position of the Vice-President of Thumbay Group’s Healthcare Division, on Nov.1, 2015.

He looks after operations of all Thumbay Hospitals in Ajman, Fujairah, Sharjah, Dubai and Hyderabad (India), as well as the networks of Thumbay Clinics, and Thumbay Labs throughout the UAE and in India. Thumbay was also honoured with the ‘Champion of Change’ Award at the 7th Annual Mena HR Excellence Awards 2015 in recognition of his leadership, strategic thinking and key management decisions that benefited the organisation.
