SHARJAH: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS) has asserted that the UoS medical colleges are part of an integrated system of the Sharjah Medical Excellence Compound, which was set up to improve healthcare.
In addition to the medical colleges, the compound incorporates medical research institutes and world-class hospitals.
Sheikh Sultan said so in a speech that he gave during the graduation ceremony of the students of the Medical, and Health Sciences Colleges and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, which was held at the University City hall in Sharjah on Wednesday.
As many as 350 male and female students graduated from the medical colleges. UAE nationals account for 40 per cent of the student body in most colleges, said Sheikh Sultan, noting that this would help the University of Sharjah’s medical colleges rank first across the UAE in terms of university qualifications of nationals.
“The graduation ceremonies for the current academic year will conclude today and I am pleased to shake hands with the best male and female students who have attained their university degrees with merit and will join the graduates of the previous years to provide excellent healthcare services at hospitals and health centres,” Sheikh Sultan said.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Sultan announced that the University of Sharjah would initiate, from the coming academic semester, a master’s in medical educational leadership programme, which is a programme between the University of Sharjah and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
