DUBAI: In response to the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, wasl announced that it planted a Union Tree on Tuesday afternoon on the occasion of the UAE’s 41st National Day celebrations, at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, part of wasl’s portfolio of assets.
The event was attended by Hisham Abdullah Al Qassim, CEO of wasl Asset Management Group, together with a group of senior managers and executives.
wasl confirmed its keenness to abide by the spirit of the initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammad, which embodies the spirit of the Union and in loyalty to His Highness, so as to enhance awareness and to present this tree as a beacon for future generations to maintain and care for the environment.

According to the UAE’s Ministry of Health, the number of Emiratis aged 60 and above, has increased by 22 per cent in five years - from 32,400 in 2005 to 39,400 in 2010. It is estimated that their number will exceed 47,000 by 2020.
A group of senior citizens at the Elderly Nursing Home-Ajman, in collaboration with Majid Al Futtaim Ventures and the UAE Ministry of Social Affairs, will join hands to plant 41 Union Trees in response to the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
