Abu Dhabi residential building catches fire

ABU DHABI: The Civil Defence and rapid intervention teams of Abu Dhabi Police put out a fire in an apartment of a residential building in Al Khalidiya, Abu Dhabi. All the tenants of the 13-storey building were evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The Command and Control Centre at Abu Dhabi Police’s General Directorate for Central Operations received a report that a fire broke out at 9:30pm on the 7th floor of a 13-storey building in Al Khalidiya, Abu Dhabi.

Civil Defence teams from Al Bateen and Al Qubaisat Civil Defence stations as well as Abu Dhabi Rapid Intervention Centre-Al Falah, ambulances and police patrols rushed to the scene.

Brigadier General Mohammad Mayouf Al Ketbi, Director General of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi, said investigations were under way to determine the causes of the fire.

He also emphasised the need to comply with safety and prevention requirements in commercial and residential buildings and ensure that enough fire extinguishers are available.
