Labour ministry renews ISO certificate

DUBAI: Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Limited (LRQA) has renewed the ISO 27001:2005 certificate for the Ministry of Labour in the field of information security, as a result of the ministry’s commitment to the required standards.

Ahmad Yousuf Al Nasser, Director of the IT Dept. at the Ministry of Labour noted that this renewal came after an audit was carried out by (LRQA), a neutral world leading independent provider of Business Assurance services, “The certificate was issued to the ministry after assuring that our standards met the certificate’s standards and conditions.”

He explained that the ISO certificate, which they’ve obtained back in 2011, achieved a number of advantages most notably was its global recognition on information security systems, establish landmarks on information security systems and build an integrated system that depends on continuing operations applied for proper info protection.

“The renewal of the ISO 27001: 2005 certificate confirms the ministry’s keenness to fully become a key partner within the Smart Government Initiative that was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “ he said, “We move towards enhancing our technological capabilities and try to study all the possible opportunities to provide all participants with a framework that reliably meets their needs and goals at all levels,” Al Nasser added.

He considered renewing the certificate as a clear memo to the efficiency and effectiveness of their department and the Ministry, which confirms the application of the highest protection standards to maintain the security of information to maintain a safe working environment.

Al Nasser pointed out that the ministry has achieved this prestigious professional certificate due to the commitment of all its operations according to ISO 27001 requirements especially in the establishment, implementation, operation and monitoring, reviewing and keeping and improving information security management systems in the context of managing operational risks.
