Mohammed, Saud open UAQ Autism Centre

DUBAI: The Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, along with Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, on Tuesday inaugurated the Umm Al Qaiwain Centre for Autism.

Sheikh Rashid Bin Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Qaiwain, attended the inauguration of Autism Centre, a first of its kind on the federal level in UAE that specialises in training and educating individuals with autism following international best practices.

Their Highnesses also launched the ‘National Employment Platform for People of Determination’, which helps identify job opportunities that accommodate requirements of persons with disabilities, and helps develop their skills to meet market needs.

Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, briefed Their Highnesses about the Centre, which also serves the Emirate of Sharjah, Ajman and Ras al-Khaimah. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid and Sheikh Saud Mu’alla inspected the Centre’s facilities and reviewed the services it provides that allows for the early diagnose of autism. The Centre offers speech therapy solutions, in addition to several activities that help autistic children.

The Centre can host between 100 and 150 cases. Initially it will cater to 55 cases, which will be increased gradually. Currently, there are 1,338 persons benefiting from the various rehabilitation programmes provided by local or federal autism centres.

UAQ Vision 

DUBAI: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, launched  on Tuesday the UAQ Future Government Framework.

The Framework, a collaboration between the UAE Government and the Government of Umm Al Qaiwain, was completed within a record 90-day timeframe.

Their Highnesses, Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Saud, were briefed on the UAQ Future Government Framework which utilises innovative approaches with the aim of boosting tourism and creating an investment friendly environment in the emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain. In this context, Their Highnesses opened the Customer Happiness Centre which is the first unified government services centre in Umm Al Qaiwain. Further they opened the Umm Al Qaiwain Youth Centre - an incubator for innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

“I would like to congratulate my brother Sheikh Saud and the Government of Umm Al Qaiwain for these achievements that reflect a clear vision for the future. The UAQ Future Government Model falls in line with the vision of Umm Al Qaiwain government which seeks to unify efforts, encourage teamwork and best utilise resources,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

His Highness added, “During my meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Their Highnesses the Crown Princes in the Annual Government Meeting, we highlighted the importance of aligning work procedures of local governments with those adopted by the federal government to better achieve our national objectives. Today we reap the fruits of that meeting.”

Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid said, “Under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE is presenting a world-class model in building the future government and investing in national cadres to further enhance its global competitiveness.”

Sheikh Saud praised the efforts of teams that worked tirelessly on the project and asserted that their achievements over the past three months are proof of the determination and innovation of Emirati cadres.

Sheikh Rashid said that the emirate’s vision is inspired by the leadership’s vision and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla to develop the community and achieve happiness and prosperity for the people of the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid and His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid also launched the Umm Al Qaiwain Vision which aims to provide high quality living standards based on sustainable economy. The vision includes five main pillars - sustainable and diversified economy, social solidarity, attractive tourism, excellent infrastructure and innovative government.

During the next phase, the Government of Umm Al Qaiwain will implement comprehensive structural development in accordance with the Future Government Model. The structure will launch a strategic plan to develop tourism and investment in terms of legislations, infrastructure and facilities. The strategy also includes a number of initiatives aimed at developing tourism through cooperation with local entities, private sector, and academia and research centres.
