Emaar donates Dhs146 million to Sandooq Al Watan

DUBAI: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and empowering the private sector to boost social entrepreneurship and nurture Emirati youth talent, Emaar Properties has announced an additional contribution of Dhs62 million to Sandooq Al Watan. One of the largest contributors to Sandooq Al Watan, Emaar had earlier contributed Dhs84 million, taking its total monetary commitment for the national initiative to Dhs146 million.

The announcement was made by Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, at a media briefing held in Dubai in the presence of by Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Chairman of Sandooq Al Watan, and other senior officials.

Sandooq Al Watan was instituted to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Maktoum Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to prepare the nation for the post-oil era by nurturing Emirati talent, promoting social enterprise, and building a sustainable knowledge-based economy.

Lieutenant General Tamim congratulated Emaar Properties for the generous support and its efforts to create a brighter future for the future generations. He thanked the real estate company for providing the right environment for Sandooq Al Watan to achieve its objectives and strategic plans to empower local talent and encourage applied research that will drive progress and prosperity, and build a sustainable knowledge economy for future generations. He said,“Emaar is a model for success and has set a proud example of corporate social responsibility by investing in creating a better future for our country and providing the highest levels of prosperity for our community.”

In his speech Alabbar, said that “the private sector has benefited tremendously from governmental support, and it is time for us to give back to our nation. As we prepare for the post-oil era, it is important to invest in our country’s most powerful resource – our talented youth. We must create the infrastructure to nurture their talents and support them to become successful entrepreneurs, who in turn contribute to our nation’s sustained progress and prosperity. Sandooq Al Watan is a powerful initiative that sets the foundations for a future generation of Emirati entrepreneurs, and we see our support to the fund as a part of our corporate social responsibility to our nation, our leadership and the community.”
