Sharjah Islamic Bank partners with SCFA

SHARJAH: Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) has signed a strategic partnership memorandum with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in Sharjah on Saturday

The deal aims to support the efforts made by the SCFA to its non-profit humanitarian subsidiaries such as Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Friends Of Cancer Patients, Breastfeeding Friends, Friends of Kidney Patients, Friends of Diabetes Patients, Friends of Arthritis Patients and other charitable nonprofit organizations operating under the umbrella of the SCFA.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, and Noura Al Noman, Director of the Executive Office of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, who signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations, in presence of a number of senior officials from both parties.

With regards to the partnership agreement, the bank will provide financial support to the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, which will coordinate with its subsidiaries on the mechanisms of spending the amounts to fund their humanitarian and social activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, said: “As an Islamic national bank, the Sharjah Islamic Bank is committed to link economic development with social development by supporting society in all its sectors. From this standpoint, the bank has signed the agreement with SCFA to support the positive efforts made by the SCFA’s organisations in all family, social and health areas”.  

He said that the bank’s board of directors and executive management are aware of the humanitarian and charity efforts made by SCFA’s organizations, adding that these efforts reflect the genuine philanthropy and generosity of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi.

Laying the cornerstone by establishing a board of directors can be mainly attributed to Her Highness. She is playing a significant role in encouraging and inspiring the family system in the emirate of Sharjah by enabling the members of family to achieve stability, safety and effectiveness in society. 

“As an Islamic bank that represents the Islamic banking sector’s noble human principles and values of social solidarity and development in all sectors, the bank has been keen to sign this agreement with the SCFA, which is a result of long term cooperation between the two parties. This strategic agreement will help improve the bank’s efforts in serving the community. This is the spirit of Islamic banking which we are keen to implement since the bank’s inception”, he added.

Mohammed Abdullah added: “Signing this agreement is part of a series of sponsorships of social activities, through which the bank seeks to translate the board’s policy of enhancing the concept of community partnership, as the bank is part and parcel of the UAE’s community. No doubt the SCFA’s cooperation will be a pillar to the success of this partnership. We expect signing more agreements with them in the light of the shared vision and common approach towards serving the interests of the country”. 

Noura Al Noman said: “This strategic partnership agreement signed with Sharjah Islamic Bank reflect the SCFA’s keenness to continue the close relationship with them and to provide excellent services to families in accordance with high standards, while ensuring  human dignity  in line with the council’s mission of developing a healthy family system in the emirate of Sharjah, in collaboration with concerned parties which share decision making process by spreading awareness and providing protection and development”.

“We are committed to enable families play their roles in society and to implement high standards of excellence and quality while adhering to the values of Islam”, she added.     

She praised the bank’s initiative of signing this agreement which is the result of cooperation between the SCFA’s organizations and the bank throughout the previous years, saying that this success will represent a double responsibility to the council to build self capacity that ensures a high degree of effectiveness and efficiency in supporting family development in the emirate of Sharjah.
