ABU DHABI: Two of the leading UAE tennis players Hamad Janahi, 22, and Abdulrahman Al Janahi, 18,  enjoyed an opportunity of a lifetime by joining the US Open and Olympic Champion Andy Murray and World number 6, Tomas Berdych in a ‘champions’ doubles tie-break play-off during the final day of the Mubadala World Tennis championship 2012 on Saturday at the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex on Saturday.

Although the tie-break was eventually won by Hamad Janahi and Berdych, 10-4, the result was secondary to the progress made in creating a lasting legacy in Abu Dhabi by inspiring a new generation into tennis.

Abdulrahman Janahi reveled in the experience: “I was really nervous going on centre court with Murray and Berdych but I wasn’t focused on the crowd, just on the ball. They told us that no matter how hard you think you are working, you always need to work harder. My goal for this year is to  reach group 2 of the Davis cup.”
