DUBAI: Telecom provider du announced that Hala Badri, the company’s Executive Vice President of Brand and Communications, was named the Best All Round Technology Executive during the recently-held inaugural Women in Technology MEA Awards 2014.

An integral contributor to du’s success, Badri’s win was based on the Award’s criteria for showing consistent, all round performance in a technology-led business, driving sales, product development, market reach and strategic level feedback.

“The technology industry has traditionally been dominated by men, which makes the Women in Technology AMEA Awards a very welcome event,” said Badri.

“To be named the Best All Round Technology Executive in MEA is a sign of not only how far women have progressed in the industry, but of how nurturing du’s environment is to encourage success amongst its employees without discrimination. I would like to thank the judging panel for their consideration.”

The WIT Awards 2014 web site was set up in October 2013 to receive nominations, from which 50+ nominations were short listed for deliberations. The eight high profile members of the jury panel included Aileen Nandi from the US Trade Department, Birgitta Oltersdorf from IBM Global Business Services, Claire Jones from Cisco Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS; Haritha Ramachandran from Frost and Sullivan, Heather Ramsey from Centre for Women’s Leadership Initiatives, Melvina Terazi from SAP MENA, Sherifa Hady from HP Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa and Trish Tierney from Institute of International Education.

The jury panel selected seven winners for the following categories: The Best All Round Technology Executive; Best Entry Level Technology Executive; Best Middle Level Technology Executive; Best Senior Level Technology Executive; Best Technology Business Start Up; Best Technology Enabler and Facilitator, and Best Technology Business Entrepreneur.
