A man of unflagging dedication

The wealth of ethics was behind his wealth of success. He never said no to the needy, therefore, his needs never said no to him. What we are discussing isn’t an emotional sweep, but a serious and realistic evaluation of a man’s deep faith in human values and their realisation and how it had an enormous deal to do with progress at all levels. And that’s being done in cooperation with a highly cosmopolitan assortment that knew him, worked with him, and in close proximity, and for years.

In decades he created what many can’t in a lifetime. He created an aggregate of journalists and, above all, a body of admirers, who are living him out with telling effect.

Dr Abdullah Omran Taryam, two times UAE minister (education and justice), did what he wished because he never faltered when it came to cliff-hanger measures, intensive labour and, above all, commitment. His success was earned with pain and not inherited at leisure. A personality shaped by steely resilience, not theoretical expostulations.

His strength lay in wisdom, not knowledge.

They, who knew Dr Abdullah Omran or knew of him, tell us, and we agree, that he always ran Dar Al Khaleej like a family, where plenty of misunderstandings do take place, but never at the expense of the bond that holds together the famous media house of the United Arab Emirates.

Where differences are never confused with rivalry and where opposition is met with reconciliation and a laugh or two. He was always unsparing in his criticism, but never malicious.

The late writer-editor’s wife, two sons and two daughters proudly tread the path that he laid and where truth doesn’t wobble and confidence doesn’t limp.
