Dubai: Ajith Pereira and Zuma Gul bowled superb spells and starred in the victories of their teams Globelink Weststar Shipping and Wings Cricket Club in the Dollar Rent A Car T10 Cup at the Dubai Men’s College Fair Ground Oval on Wednesday.

While Globelink defeated Dollar Rent A Car by 20 runs in the first match, Wings cruised to a 19-run victory over GHI CC.

The tournament, sponsored by Dollar Rent A Car and conducted by G Force Sports Services, is being held under the auspices of Dubai Cricket Council.

Despite making only a reasonable 92 for six in their allotted 10 overs, Globelink struck through Pereira, who took three wickets for just nine runs. Gopakumar also bowled an excellent spell, taking two for 14 as Dollar Rent A Car managed only 72 for six in 10 overs. Irfan scored 22 with the help of a lone six, while Ehsan scored a boundary and a six for 16.

Earlier, Vilas Kutty hit four fours in his 25, while Renjith gave good company, making 18 with one hit to the fence.

Jawad Ghani, Mohammed Asif and Ahmed picked one wicket apiece.

In the second match, Gul made the difference by picking three for 11, while Abdul Haq finished with figures of two for 10 after their team Wings, who batted first, made an impressive 115 for five in 10 overs.

Raziq Khan was at his devastating best, hammering two sixes and four fours in his 31. Asfaq Ahmed boosted the innings with 26, which included three fours and one six. Zaheer Maqsood made an impression, bagging two for 24, while Anwar took one wicket for 18.

Requiring more than 11 runs per over, GHI were boosted by Shehazad, who hit an impressive 25 with the help of two fours and two sixes, and Sami who contributed 15.
