Masdar to build first large-scale wind farm in Oman
MUSCAT: Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company (Masdar), has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), contract with a global consortium comprising GE and Spain’s TSK to build the Dhofar Wind Power Project, the first large-scale wind farm in Oman and the GCC. The Dhofar Wind Power Project is a result of the joint development agreement that was established in 2014 between Masdar and the Rural Areas Electricity
   
Infosys to buy back 11.3 crore shares at Rs1,150 each
BENGALURU: Global software major Infosys announced on Saturday that it would buy back 11.3 crore shares of Rs5 face value at Rs1,150 each via a tender offer. “The Board has approved a proposal to buy back 11.3 crore equity shares of Rs5 face value from the shareholders at a price of Rs 1,150 per share for an amount not exceeding Rs13,000 crore ($2 billion),” said the IT major in a regulatory filing on the Bombay Stock Exchange
 
 
Canada inflation ticks higher in July on gas prices
OTTAWA: Canada’s annual inflation rate ticked higher in July as gas prices climbed, suggesting price pressures are picking up after June’s subdued reading and clearing the way for the Bank of Canada to raise interest rates again in the fall. The inflation rate rose to 1.2 per cent from June’s 20-month low of 1.0 per cent, matching analysts’ expectations, and two of the three measures of core inflation that the Bank of Canada
