Man uses stolen car to ferry 500 liquor bottles

SHARJAH: An Asian national who stole a car to aid in his bootlegging was recently nabbed by the Sharjah Police.

Ranjeet, the accused, stole a Toyota Camry from the Al Khan area. The owner of the car reported the robbery to the police when she saw that her car was stolen from the sandy area in front of her residence where she parked her car.

A security team was formed to investigate the robbery and the suspect was found driving the car with 500 bottles of alcohol in his possession. On confronting the suspect he confessed that he stole the car for the sake of bootlegging without being caught.

The suspect is detained and will be referred to the Public Prosecution.

Sharjah Police are urging car owners to thoroughly lock their cars and avoid parking them in deserted or dark areas and in case they fall prey to a car robbery they should immediately contact the police on the numbers 800151 or 999.
