DUBAI: The Gitex Shopper that entered its fourth day on Tuesday, at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention centre received yet another major sales boost, as there were at least four trade events taking place at the same venue in various halls.

Visitors from across the globe, who have arrived in Dubai to participate in several exhibitions on Monday took time from their busy schedule to attend the day-long mega show which is the region’s biggest consumer electronics event involving power retailers and world-class brands.

Besides the numerous display at the event, that includes mobile phones, laptops, television screens, etc there are other household appliances and products being displayed at the Show.

A cross-section of exhibitors interviewed on Monday confirmed that they have also been reporting heavy sales in the other products being showcased at Gitex Shopper this year. The location of the other products that include home appliances, white goods and smart home technology that range from the latest in innovation and eco-friendly advances in everything from washing machines, refrigerators and dishwashers to air conditioning units, ionizers and lighting.

The product line-up is expected to meet the increasing demand for home appliances and consumer tech products that is being driven by a fast growing local and regional population. With figures close to 9.6 million residents in the UAE, the market for in-house appliances alone is forecast to reach Dhs4 billion by 2017. Added to this is the region’s considerable appetite for the latest consumer electronics and the increasing smart connectivity that is becoming an everyday part of life in business leisure and at home.

This year, several giant electronic dealers also launched new products into the market marking yet another regional first.

Trink impossible glass technology from the US has made a breakthrough into the GCC market with a debut at this year’s Gitex Shopper Autumn event.

The new technology which is a simple glass, will strengthen the mobile phone’s original screen’s shock resistance capability by upto 5 times protecting the mobile screen from cracking under accidental direct impacts, says Naveen Monga the managing director for Trink in India.

One of the most critical protection layer in the composition of trink impossible glass, is the durable stretch resistance layer that acts like a car bumper that slows down and disperse impacts. It also blocks sharp objects from piercing through the screen protector.

Naveen says that Trink has put a lot of research effort into the areas of optics and light transmittance.

“As we understand the importance of image quality, trink impossible glass retain the crisp, ultra HD image quality of today’s modern smartphones,” he adds.

The product has an oleophobic coating that prevents finger prints and other contaminants and makes the film easy to clean.

Naveen explains that Trink impossible glass screen protector stop layer is engineered with industry’s highest 9H hardness effectively protecting your screen from daily wear and tear.

It has high optical clarity, yet as thin as 3 sheets of printer paper.

He said the featured rounded edges not only lessens the chance of side cracking but also gives a smoother touch. With super slim and rounded edges, it offers the lcd screen a “nude” yet durable protection.

Asked how he views competition in the market, Naveen says that this technology is the first of its kind to be introduced in the Middle East through Gitex Shoppers, adding that already several giant electronic dealers have signed a deal to provide the services in the UAE.

“There is no competition in this market as such, as it has never been introduced in this part of the world. However, there are other agents who provide the so-called tempered glass technology which is not 100 per cent safe,” explains Naveen.

He confirmed that since Gitex Shopper began on Saturday the response from mobile phone users has been overwhelming, as the users have been flocking the stand located at SSA-511 to have the latest technology fixed on their phone screen to avoid further damage. The cost is very minimal at only Dhs100 per phone, says Naveen.
