Man behind bars for murdering friend

DUBAI: The Dubai appellate court sentenced an Asian air-conditioning technician, 42, to seven years in jail, to be followed by deportation on charges of premeditatedly murdering his friend. The Court of first instance previously sentenced the defendant to three years in jail and deportation.

On being questioned, the defendant confessed that on the day of the incident he was at an under construction site in the Al Quoz area of Dubai with the victim, his friend, drinking alcohol. The victim received a phone call from the security guard of another an under construction site in the same area, telling him he left him some food at an under construction villa.

He added that he went with the victim to the place where they ate and drank alcohol.

Then the victim insulted and cursed him and his wife. He got angry, went out of the room, brought a large wooden stick and hit the victim on different places of his body and then left the place.
