Annual RIT Dubai Competition concludes

DUBAI: Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai, a world-class educational university established in partnership with Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), successfully concluded its fourth annual university challenge drawing the participation of over 350 students from 26 schools across UAE.

The event, titled RIT Dubai University Competition, hosted challenges that tested participants’ proficiency in general knowledge, engineering and business.

A guided tour of Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) and RIT Dubai campus was provided to the students in the lead up to the competition.

Awarding the winners this year, Shahla Abdul Razak, deputy CEO at DSOA and Dr Yousef Al Assaf, president of RIT Dubai, handed over a prize money of Dhs35, 000 to the first place winning school in each of the three competitions.

Shahla Ahmed Abdul Razak said, “Our youngsters are the future leaders. We need to engage them and nurture their imagination and support their dreams. This will help stimulate their creativity and encourage independent thinking. As a platform that thrives on innovation, we at DSO believe in providing an enabling ambience that fosters the young’s learning. Our efforts come as part of our conviction that the investments we make today on our young generation will contribute to the growth and the development of our economy tomorrow.”

Dr Al Assaf said, “We are highly pleased with the quality of talent that the university challenge attracts every year. It is very interesting to observe how active and involved the youth are with subjects that holds their interest. Their determination to excel and not just participate was even more commendable.”

Some of the schools that took part in the RIT University Challenge included Rawafed Private School, Jumeirah English Speaking School-Arabian Ranches, Lycee Francais, International Georges Pompidou, Victoria International School of Sharjah, Sharjah American International School, Al Dhafra Private School, Al Aqsa Private School, Sharjah English School, Dubai Scholars Private School, Greenfield Community School, Victoria English School, British School Al Khubairar, The City International School and Al Ma’arifa International Private School.
